The codec below will play your AVI encoded in the Canopus video files. You will note that Canopus is a video codec developed by the Canopus Corporation. The company was later acquired by Grass Valley. In the past the Canopus codec was known for its high-quality video codecs. This including the Canopus HQ codec. There have been many newer codecs since then. The problem now is converting the older encoded video. These format such as DV Rex M1, DV Raptor, RexFX, EZDV and Xplode.

The Canopus HQ codec is a high-quality, lossy video codec that was commonly used in professional video editing applications. It does offer a high level of compression while preserving video quality. This making it well-suited for video editing workflows where file size is a concern. See also the Pinnacle DV25 Codec as well as Micro Innovations CP-1L and the Koepi’s XviD Codec.

The Canopus HQ codec was popular in the early 2000s, but it has since been largely supplanted by newer codecs like H.264 and ProRes. However, some older video editing applications may still support the Canopus HQ codec, and legacy content encoded with the codec may still be in use. You can also look at the ASV1 codec on here.
