The binary files in the directory are associated with encoding and decoding the format. This codec was designed to compress video frames which were created with Autodesk Animator Studio. Additionally the codec allowed for the storage as well as play back on computers with limited storage and processing power.

Firstly the codec used lossy compression to reduce the size of video frames. This was not widely used as it did not work with other products or players on the market. The codec is rarely used today. See also the FourCC : 8BPS which is a Photoshop codec for their layed pictures. The FourCC : 3IV1 is a older video codec for compression. Today many years later, video editing software supports more modern and efficient codecs, such as H.264, H.265, and VP9.
