Q&A: Why wont Windows Media Player 11 play audio but will play video? I think it is a codec problem.?

Question by nosh!: Why wont Windows Media Player 11 play audio but will play video? I think it is a codec problem.?
I think the problem is a codec issue, because when I have power dvd on, media player seems to work. This has happened when I installed ver 11, my older version worked fine. I have checked the microsoft.com amd wmplugins.com but I am not sure what I need to download.

Download VLC media player, its the best thing you can get. it runs every single video and audio format that i know of, you can’t go wrong!

Get yourself “K-Lite Codec Pack” (I’d recommend the full version).

It’s got lots of codecs you can also add to your WMP.

Yes VLC is great but it will not play protected content… Get VLC but also try to roll back your old windows media player or do a system restore if you can.
